Gaffel Studios was opened in 2000, run by the Gaffel association and with financial support from the Municipality of Gävle. The studios were founded to give professional artists in Gävle and surrounding areas a place where they could work with large machinery and bulky material.

The rentable studios consists of empty spaces for personal projects as well as stations for digital image editing and workshops for silkscreen printing and woodwork. Sound-, photography- and other equipment is also available.

The Gaffel association also arrange courses for artists in several techniques, mostly silkscreen printing on textiles and paper, but also in sculpture techniques.

Membership is mandatory to rent studios or equipment, but any artist can become a member for a fee of 400 sek/year. For further information please contact us!

Studios and equipment

The main area of the workshop contains equipment for screen printing (paper and textile), woodworking, and a potter's wheel. Due to problems with sawdust and other particles the workshop can only be used for one of these things at a time. That's why only one booking at a time are allowed in the booking calendar for the workshop (the calendar is called "Drejskiva, snickeri, screen och projektateljé"). The kilns, on the other hand, can be booked separately, as well as the welding room.
Bookings are made in our system at Boka.se. They have a setting for english, so you should be able to find instructions if you need help, but they don't translate descriptions or titles of the calendar so you will have to look for the Swedish title.
